Waveshell not detected past 3.2
I’ve noticed that If I use any version of Renoise past 3.2 (i.e. 3.3, 3.4), the software doesn’t see the Waves plugins at all.
Steps to reproduce - open Renoise 3.3+ and look in the VST effects list.
Expected results - A “Waves” subcategory with all Waves VST effects listed within
Actual results - All plugins except Waves plugins
Basically, Renoise 3.3, and onward, does not ever register that Waves is there, but 3.2 recognizes all waves plugins up to the most current version (V14).

Old song, plugin VST, now only AU - how to transmit VST parameters to AU?
So I’ve got plenty of old songs that use the VST version of Schaack Transient Shaper.
But I only have the AU version of it. How do I make it so that when VST is detected, it loads the AU, but retains the plugin parameter settings?

Then Try This / samplebrain · GitLab
A custom sample mashing app designed by Aphex Twin.
I’ve not yet tried this but the description sounds pretty fun,
“A custom sample mashing app designed by Aphex Twin”
Samplebrain chops samples up into a ‘brain’ of interconnected small sections called blocks which are connected into a network by similarity. It processes a target sample, chopping it up into blocks in the same way, and tries to match each block with one in its brain to play in realtime.
This allows you to interpret a sound with a different one. As we worked on it (during 2015 and 2016) we gradually added more and more tweakable parameters until it became slightly out of control.

OSX: Input glitch keeps happening
Hi there! I’m new to these forums so if I screw something up lemme know.
I have been trying to do live MIDI devices through an audio interface to Renoise’s input. However, in the middle of recording something there has always been some kind of input glitch that keeps happening. It lasts for a few seconds, but after this happens the instrument is completely off tempo.
I have tried to adjust every setting I could with MIDI and the input settings since I thought it had to do with either MIDI or audio latency, but this problem always keeps popping up no matter what, so it’s not that. This isn’t a unique problem to my audio interface either, as I have tried a cheap RCA to USB input as well and it happened there too.
Is this a common problem with audio inputs within Renoise? Is there some kind of setting that I have to adjust? If not, is this a problem with input or is my machine’s CPU just too slow?
Thanks!

Kontakt 7 window won't open
NI just released Komplete 14, and with it comes a brand new version of Kontakt (finally).
unfortunately it acts really strange in renoise. when i load it in under the plugin tab, the kontakt window shows up, and it works fine. but for whatever reason, once i close it i can’t open it again. no matter how much i double click on it in the instruments panel, it won’t open.
if i loaded an instrument into it before closing it, i can still play the instrument, i just can’t open the damn window. no matter if i’m in the plugin tab, the edit tab or whatever.
it only exists as VST3 so maybe that has something to do with it? i don’t have any issues with other VST3 plugins however (except massive x, but at least that’s available as VST2 as well).
kind of a bummer as i’ve been looking forward to an updated kontakt player for ages, and now it’s here and it …sorta works? i just can’t see the damn window.
anyone else?

Note off tool? (issues sequencing korg ms-20)
The envelopes on ms-20 does not retrigger. I often copy a drum groove to the track wich triggers ms-20, wich means that i manually have to enter the off command before every new note.
Is there any tool that automatically insert a off command before every new note? Or other work arounds?
I’ve tried Note Off Tool | Renoise but does not do exactly what i want.

Audacity takes a “major step towards transforming into a DAW” as it reaches
The free and open-source software aims for "end-to-end production tool" status
I’m not a big user of Audacity, but this might interest some folks.
Lack of MIDI support sort of stops it from being a proper DAW in my mind, but having some other audio tool can be handy.
Can’t beat the price. : )

Could a Wet/Dry Rotary/Fader/Whatever be added to the Macro Controls of the Doofer
Would be good to have an additional control at the start of the Doofer Chain that is a Wet/Dry blend for the dry signal and wet signal as it is processed by the contents of the Doofer. I believe, with absolutely no experience of programming or anything of the like, that this would be easier than creating a whole new Parallel FX container.
Would be great. That is all.

Gentoo Studio real-time Linux audio production system
https://gentoostudio.org Gentoo Studio is an actively maintained, source-based, 64-bit desktop real-time Linux audio production system based on Gentoo Linux.
I’ve first heard about it today. I’d like to try it out. Anyone had any experience using this distro?

Mappable shortcuts to navigate through slice markers
When adjusting a lot of slice markers it would be helpful if we could have a mappable shortcut to jump to the previous/next slice marker from the currently selected one. Using the list of slices to the left opens the slice in isolation, not offering the option to adjust the slice marker’s position.

Filter 3 eulogy or why all my mixes suck
Lately I realized again, how fancy the deprecated Filter 3 works as a highpass filter. It seems to me the most balanced filter in this regard, the perceived volume stays the same. Especially if you aim for adding a bit of resonance at the fundamental for compensating the lows you just cut off. Let’s name this kind of mixing the 80s style of mixing. In the end such kind of mix appears more dense and “warm” This filter is the holy grail for adding warmth like a fireplace (esp. mean the “24dB 4Pole” filter type).
The digital filter isn’t bad and very useful, but can’t reach this specific kind of quality.
After I replaced all digitals filters with Filter 3 in all my mixes, the I rock the garage again.
So I would love to see a revised version and a de-deprecation of the fancy Filter 3. Maybe adding oversampling, maybe adding pre-/post drive optionally, or maybe even make it open source? Very likely it is not an algorithmic masterstroke, but instead just very carefully chosen by good ears. At least I find it kind of sad this it was deprecated.
The analog filter sounds nice, but does not seem to be a good replacement, since the filter types are too specific. Or maybe I just need to try it more…
What’s your opinion about this topic?

(Middle-click) mute Columns in a Track
Like when Middle-clicking on a track in the Pattern matrix or the PLAY button inside the track to mute it for the pattern it would be nice if you could also Middle-click the PLAY button of the columns too mute them the same way, that’s not possible right?
Just realized it’s possible to rename the ‘Note’ text in the columns

MuLab DAW got VST2 plugin version
Yes. At now you can use MuLab DAW with its sequencer and piano roll in Renoise for an affordable price (cheaper than FL Studio). I have tested and worked together seamlessly.
https://www.mutools.com/mulab-plugin-downloads.html
BTW
- you can resize plugin window
- there is a sync button in plugin that allows to start in sync with the main DAW - Renoise

Disabled Line in device mutes all audio in group
Hey, just wanted to report a rather odd bug i’ve been experiencing in Renoise 3.4.2 - not critical at all but a just little annoying
This only happens in songs created BEFORE v3.4.2, but when loaded in 3.4.2 - and as far as I can tell only in Windows:
If there is a DISABLED line-in device on a GROUP, all tracks in the group gets muted. To get around it I have to either enable the line-in device or delete it.
