TRACKERCORPS VOL. 2 compilation (OPEN CALL)
Hello, everyone!
We are happy to announce that submissions for TRACKERCORPS VOL. 2: Go Acid are now OPEN!
TRACKERCORPS is a multi-artist music compilation that aims to celebrate the foundation of computer-made and homebrew electronic music: trackers!
The first edition was released in July 2023, with 15 tracks made exclusively in trackers and infused with breakbeats:
In Vol. 2 we’ll be celebrating the good ol’ 303 sounds - whether they’re made in an actual Roland TB-303 or not. So crank the resonance up in your LPFs and Go Acid, nerds!
Read all the rules HERE before submitting your stuff. It only takes 5-10 minutes.
Schedule:
Deadline: 1/January/2024
Results: TBD (depends on the number of submissions)
Release: 3/March/2024 (aka ‘303 Day’)
Genre suggestions:
Breakcore, IDM, Electro, Acid. Preferably ‘high’ BPM. Exceptions allowed.
Bonus points if you use a tracker.
Everything you need to know: https://trackercorps.neocities.org/

C FX Command only works in the volume column for VSTs
I noticed that the Cut FX only works in the volume column for VSTS (Midi), but not when you place it in the fx column. Would be handy if you could also use them in the FX columns to stop midi notes.

Bigger/Expandable Meters
love the scaling options for the meters, but they are way to tiny. Maybe they could be expandable in the next version, so one can drag them out, or a new “big meter”. I work with Hardware and try to keep RMS values around -18dBFS and making fine adjustments is really almost impossible.

Fields | Ambient EP
Made some dark ambient pieces in Renoise a few weeks ago. Decided to compile a few of them into an EP.

Is this processor utilisation normal?
I have a Thinkpad with a AMD 4750u, with Windows 11
I was having some major CPU utilisation issues a few weeks ago but an update to the GPU (and a full, and time consuming fresh install) seemed to of fixed it in Ableton but not in Renoise.
I’m just checking this is “normal”? I know Renoise multicore support maybe isn’t as efficient at Abletons.
My projects tend to grind to a halt after adding a few power hungry VSTs, which is kind of norwal… but i’m not really going overboard here and adding huge stacks.
This is the first time that during rendering the util meter just stayed in 99% the whole way and rendered it very slowly, I opened up task manager and everything seems to be running ok with lots of spare resources… so i’m just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?

Possible (probable?) bug w.r.t. vst3 parameter flushing
Hi!
I think i have found a bug in renoise regarding flushing of vst3 parameters from ui to audio thread. Wrote a small synth plugin that can switch from sine to saw oscillator, and when switching between the 2 modes, sometimes events get lost. I have verified this in the debugger, that sometimes a call (from the ui side) to Steinberg::Vst::EditController::performEdit does not result in an event (on the audio side) in the form of Steinberg::Vst::ProcessData::inputParameterChanges. As a result, some ui interaction “gets lost”.
See below for some screen recordings: clicking around in the ui, switching between sine/saw, does not always get picked up. This problem only happens in renoise and cakewalk, it does not manifest in reaper, waveform, flstudio or bitwig.
Weird behaviour in renoise: https://sjoerdvankreel.github.io/infernal_stuff/renoise_bug_renoise_demo.mp4
Weird behaviour in cakewalk: https://sjoerdvankreel.github.io/infernal_stuff/cakewalk_bug_cakewalk_demo.mp4
Correct behaviour in reaper: https://sjoerdvankreel.github.io/infernal_stuff/renoise_bug_reaper_demo.mp4
Again, waveform, bitwig and flstudio behave without problems like reaper. I can post screen recordings if needed.
Steps to reproduce:
- git clone --recursive GitHub - sjoerdvankreel/infernal-playground
- checkout tag bug_demo_1
- run scripts/build.bat
- copy vst3 plugin from /dist folder to vst3 folder
- run renoise demo from /test folder and play around with osc type
If needed i can provide binaries.
Also – i hate to say this but, how much “alive” is renoise? Still got no answer to this Saved automation data does not respect VST3's parameter id. FLStudio suffered the same problem, and i reported simultaneously to renoise and FL, and image line fixed it within 2 months or so.
Just to be clear - i absolutely love renoise. Been a long time user. I’ll take a tracker over a piano roll any day. I hope to be working with renoise for years to come, but, stuff like this should really be fixed (again – excuse me if i’m in the wrong here and the bug is on my side…).
Anyway – end of long post. I hope i dont come across as arrogant – i really really love renoise and i think it is the #1 daw out there. But, i also think it has its flaws in the plugin department. If possible, i’d be open to help out with development every now and then, just small stuff…
-cheers, sjoerd

[tool idea] Polyphonic free running LFOs
I’d love to be able to have free running (polyphonic) LFOs in an instrument that allow me to hear the results while I’m composing and live playing/performing. On my knees begging in 2023 for a tool that does this quickly and simply. Mind is still blown this is not a box you can click on/off on LFOs.
To create organic movement within a single track (instrument) and between tracks (multiple instruments) I don’t feel there is a better way, and for the creative process to flow freely the solution needs to be pretty fast/simple.
Deepest apologies if this exists, cannot find a solution. thx! -e

Akai LPK25 25 Key Mini doesn't work or turn on anymore
I have an Akai LPK25 25 Key Mini. I used it two months ago and it was working fine. I set it aside to take a break from music for a bit. About two days ago I took it back out of it’s original box it came in and plugged it back into my computer as I did the last time I used it. Now for some reason it isn’t working.
Here is what I have tried:
-
I unplugged the USB from both the computer and the keyboard and waited a few minutes and tried again.
-
I logged out of my DAW and shut down the program then got back into it thinking that maybe the issue. Still nothing.
-
I tried steps 1 and 2 again with a different USB connected to the computer and the keyboard. Nothing again.
-
I tried the two USB ports each time. I then tried connecting another items to my computer to see if it was the computer USB port that may be the issue. My phone, my headphones, and my two computer keyboards for typing work fine without issues.
Could it be the USB port on the keyboard that isn’t working right or could it be something inside the keyboard itself?
Any ideas or suggestions for what I should try next that I haven’t done yet?

I pressed a button and the renoise just doesn't come out anymore.
Hello community, I recently installed renoise and was able to use it smoothly… after a few minutes while looking at the functions I ended up pressing a button and that button caused renoise to simply no longer send sound… The volumes go up, but it There’s simply no sound coming out… does anyone know how to solve it? I’ve already tried resetting the preferences, but to no avail…

Hello. My Name is F. Tate
Hey everyone. Around 2020 - 2021, i used to post tunes heavily on here when i went by the alias of Professional Amatuer. Most of them, pretty much all of them, not good. Few years past, went through some creative changes, gained some more influences, and even went through a name switch. Now, in the year 2023, going by my real name, I’ve decided that i want to get back into posting my work on here. This community has always shown me a great deal of respect and support, and i appreciate each and everyone of you here. Thanks for making my music journey a little more fun.
This was a track that i just made and released a couple minutes ago. One of the few tunes that i would consider special in my lineup. I hope to create more like it, and i don’t just mean sonically either.
Hope you enjoy, thank you for your attention.

Updated and modded TouchOSC duplex ipad template
Contribute to ylmrx/renoise_Duplex_tosc_ipad_mod development by creating an account on GitHub.
fixes buttons failing to get renoise’ state, added a 2nd page with a mixer. I was unable to fix the sequencer looper (repeater works fine)
Work with latest touchosc and renoise
If this is good enough, this can be merged in duplex copy.
Open issues if things are wrong.

Redux: Set sampler voices to 1/mono
Wanna use redux as a mono voice sampler sequenced via midi in my DAW and not phrases. can’t seem to find a way to set the samplers voice count to 1 so it cuts playback on a new note. I’ve read some discussion on this forum about this from 2015 but uhhhhh anyway to do this yet?

How to create exponential rhythms like Mr. Bill?
Does anyone here know of a way besides automating tempo or LPB to create “exponential rhythms” like Mr. Bill shows in this video (well, he shows how to do it in Ableton)? I know it’s probably doable using phrases with different LPB, but I’d like to know if there’s a way to do it in the pattern editor too.

Using Renoise A Lot
Hi. I am new to this forum, but I have been using Renoise for five months now and I have been able to create 50+ songs with it. Check them out at www.youtube.com/tvpmark

Probably the most creative song you will see here this week!
I started creating this in march and it is finally finished.
Finished! My own diy animatronic show. Done with open source software and renoise. Unlisted version.
Its a raw video clip because this one has Renoise in it. The final clip will have the laptop moved into the studio together with the other pc what is playing the music you will hear live!
I’m triggering it using OSC server and VLC Web.
I hope you like it!!

I created a brand new, pretty helpful BPM calculator with many features
My other software was a failure; I should think of others rather than what I found back then good or useful, and I was an idiot. So I got digging and researching, and I think I’m the only one who made something like this. What it does is let you pick three options at the beginning of a terminal window.
[1] Enter Millisecond(s)-per-beat to get statistics
[2] Enter Beat(s)-per-second to get statistics
[3] Enter Beat(s)-per-minute to get statistics
If you pick [1], enter Millisecond(s)-per-beat to get statistics, and you enter the number 500. This is what it’ll show you.

You get the idea. If you want 4 beats per second in the second option, just type in and enter 4 when you pick that option. If you want BPM statistics, type in the BPM value. Decimals are also allowed. And I put no limit on how high it can go, only what the computer can handle; it also handles negative numbers just for fun, I guess. It also goes up to 256 lines per beat just for the sake of completion; I think what you’d want is up to 64. Anyways, The calculations are seemingly instant, and I ran it on a netbook, and on Linux, the software uses 4.0 KB of RAM. I’m sure someone can find this useful; I sometimes like messing with it. A Linux executable is included with the source code. So if you want to run it on Windows or macOS, you’d have to compile it yourself.
