Phase Plant poly aftertouch not working
Poly Aftertouch doesn’t work with Phase Plant (other synths work though), only mono. Noticed when I use it on DAWs such as Studio One and Bitwig I have to toggle a MPE setting just for it to work on my ATOM SQ controller. I believe Renoise doesn’t have MPE so I’m wondering if there is a work around anywhere.

Sun - City of Lights (AI vocals era is here)
Walking down the streets under city lights
Feeling the energy
It’s a magical sight (sight)
People pass me by
Catchin’ their own groove
Dancin’ to the rhythm
In the city we move
The neon signs are blazin’
The stars in our eyes
Lost in the moment
We’re living our lives (lives)
The pulse of the city
It’s all in the air
Every beat of our hearts
We’re gonna share
Oh-oh
The city lights and late night vibes
Got me feeling alive
Like I can touch the sky
Oh-oh
We’re gonna dance 'til the morning light
In this city
We find our paradise

Introducing myself. It's been a long long (long) time
Hi guys, I’m Marco. Scener and composer in the 80’s, gigging musician in the 90’s and early 00’s and nowadays a working-in-IT dad and creator/maintainer of a Star Citizen related gaming community fansite.
If you’re as old as I am (in your fifties) my name might ring a bell. I am the creator of the C64 sequencer named Music-Assembler which was marketed and sold at the time by Markt+Technik, publisher of some German language C64 magazines.
I still play music (albeit on real guitars and basses) and recorded thusfar using Steinberg Cubase.
I just purchased a copy of Renoise and will start toying with it really soon.
Lately my daughter has been pushing me to make a return to tracker based music as she thinks it will bring out the best in my creativity. She had discovered some of my old eighties tracks lately after typing my name on youtube … so if new music appears from yours truly through Renoise you have her to thank for it…
Cheers, Marco
Oh and here’s some screenshots from the old sequencer software I coded myself with a friend. I borrowed the gif from CSDb…

Feature Request: LFO Device with better Envelope function
So the way you modulate Plugin parameters with an Envelope is by using the keytracker to reset an envelope set to oneshot. Thats a nice little hack, however the custom envelope function in the lfo device is lacking in functionality, especially when compared to the actual modulation tab of an instrument. I would be totally down for an option in a context menu of a plugin, to raise the parameter of that plugin to show up in the modulation tab (even if that only works for the ones within the instruments effects tab and not the pattern editor). However if the devs wanna stick to using the keytracker LFO combo please include an a(h)dsr function so that I can work with the sustain parameter.
thoughts?

Selling U-He Bazille license for 70 EUR
Hi,
I am selling my U-He Bazille license for 70 EUR. If you are interested, please PM me. Works on on macos, Windows, Linux. It’s the big brother of ACE.
U-He Bazille is a really good sounding (esp. in hq mode) semi-modular synth which also supports audio rate lfo modulation AFAIK. Recent beta builds, available at the u-he kvr forum also support CLAP and polyphonic modulation, so using this in Bitwig makes the possibilities endless.
I just can’t wrap my head around this synth. You need to know what you are doing while connecitng the patch cables. I come from classic workstations, so this seems to be not made for me. The presets are also quite good, as usual for a U-He synth.

Reaktor 6 FX crashing Renoise 3.4.3
Hello!
Been experiencing lots of crashes / freezes when running Reaktor 6 as an FX in Renoise 3.4.3. This is on a fresh install, coming back to Renoise after a bit. The last time I had this stuff working without issue was probably somewhere in 3.3.
To reproduce:
- Launch Renoise
- Load Reaktor 6 FX on master track
- Load ensemble (Crashes occur regardless of which one is loaded)
- Reaktor crashes immediately with this message:
- Renoise continues to run but any attempts to load another instance of Reaktor will freeze the whole program.
Here is the last chunk of the log file:
Application: Loading the template document…
MIDI: Loading MIDI actions from file ‘C:\Program Files\Renoise 3.4.3\Resources\Scripts\GlobalMidiActions.lua’…
Osc: Loading OSC actions from file ‘C:\Program Files\Renoise 3.4.3\Resources\Scripts\GlobalOscActions.lua’…
Player: Constructing…
Player: Creating slave threads…
Player: 8 threads enabled. 8 CPUs are available.
Player: Start running…
GUI: Creating the Document GUI…
GUI: Successfully constructed
Application: Successfully loaded template document.
GraphPort: Initializing in WindowedMode
GraphPort: Successfully initialized
Application: Init OK
Application: Enter MainLoop…
Vst3Plugs: Instantiating: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Reaktor 6.vst3…
Vst3Plugs: Disabled auto-suspending for plugin ‘Native Instruments: Reaktor 6 FX’ (it reports an infinite tail)
Vst3Plugin: Plugin ‘Native Instruments: Reaktor 6 FX’ requested parameter setup changes…
This is how it goes 90% of the time. Occasionally Renoise will freeze up on step 4. VERY rarely, the ensemble will load and function, process audio etc. but will crash Renoise when I either change the preset or adjust parameters in the ensemble itself.
Reaktor functions flawlessly when I load it as an instrument, this is only an issue when using it as an effect. No other third party plugins, instrument or effect, have any issues.
If theres any other info I can give that might be helpful let me know. Thank you so much!

Is Renoise macos Sonoma compatible?
Hi,
does Renoise work properly on Sonoma 14.4.1? Any experience here? What about the usual plugins? I am still on 12.6.1, but was thinking about upgrading finally, to have Metal3 then. Some people reported that Bitwig GUI might work a bit faster then. Maybe nonsense… Would also like to benchmark before and after the update, and wondered which benchmark tool actually would give me properly comparable results. Geekbench seems to be a bit too Apple friendly.
Also, do you know if you can downgrade back to macos 12.7, if required stuff isn’t working? Seems to me that this is not possible on real Apple machines…

Anyone know anyone that turned there lives around?
so i’m 44 and really lost at the moment
i want to hear stories of people that turned there lives around , and i don’t just mean in the music industry , did they get off the drugs and got a big paid job , they got a small business , some online success , dj in front of 5 thousand people etc
i find sometimes people can be negative in the real world and say “ just accept who you are “ and they put these successful people on a pedestal like it’s not achievable and you have to be born like that , but do we have to believe that if we have always underachieved or had a lack of self belief we always will ? please share some positive stories thank you .

Renoise.log flooding
Hi,
found today while making backups:
I think Falcon 3.01 VST3 macos caused this, since yesterday, the gui was hanging. But I couldn’t read the actual entries of the file.
Maybe the log file should get a simple flood protection?

Paging Mr Zensphere
Hey mate, can i pick your brains?
How do i get that lead sound at 40min 30sec, it sounds like a phaser and some sort of filter modulation, like a notch filter or bandpass in parallel? I cant conceptualise it. Sawtooth? Square and triangle? Drawing a total blank, embarassingly.
Youre the resident Psy-god. Hence me paging you @slujr

Humanizing pitch and rhythm
Hi I am new to renoise, I am normally using SunVox for synth music and I am attracted by the scripting possibillities in renoise. I want to know how to:
- Humanize the pitch; I believe in some synths it’s called pitch drift. The pitch has during play a randomly offset by a given amount. I use this for making harmony sound more human
- Humanize rhythm; A random delay for each note you play by a given maximum of delay.
- loading custom tunings like werckmeister III for example or any user defined
Thank you

Recording Vocals and Guitar
Hi everyone i’m new here hope everyone is well and good after the crazy 4 years we have had recently.
so i have aquired a copy of renoise but i haven’t got a computer yet (sounds funny i know) , i had to sell my desktop a while back but i’m getting given an ok laptop in the next few weeks , i want to keep my setup minimal, i plan to use the laptop with a zoom h1n to record acoustic guitar and singing along with beats and maybe some bass and keys real minimal stuff now i know Renoise isn’t a multitrack recorder , and i do have a cut down copy of cubase Le and ableton live lite somewhere , but i really want to knuckle down and keep it minimal and use only renoise with some xrni samples if i can and just use one software , i want to research these next couple of weeks how to record in renoise and if there’s anyone that does this and has easy methods.
Ps : couple questions here that are related ,
- can you use a metronome or record along to a beat in the sampler to get recordings in time? because if you can i think the rest is straightforward like adding a sample in like any other.
2.: are there any audio recording tools or will there be any plans too make renoise record conventional audio
apart from
that thank you taktik and everyone here nice to meet you all

Bug: Tools Menu keeps closing constantly
Hi, I’ve got a bit of an issue here, been working on a script, but now the Tools Menu keeps closing constantly.
I was working on something that would let you dynamically update the Tools Menu, i.e. “if preferences says Feature=Enabled, then create a “Disable feature” menu item” and “if preferences says Feature=Disabled, then create a “Enable Feature” menu item”.
Now I’m in a loop and it’s difficult to get the tools menu to even open. @taktik any take on this?

Todd Rundgren Speak!... Video Toaster-Amiga>>>
Came across the other day. Todd Rundgren discussing using Video Toaster with a buncha Amigas to produce a digital music video that was actually pretty impressive for 1990-91. Most might not know that he’s quite intelligenter than many (jokingly)…
Things were hard & expensive back then-
Amigavideo.net – 5 Aug 19 Todd Rundgren Speak! | amigavideo.netAll Rights Reserved © Sweet Pea Productions
No ads…GOOD!
There is a personal back story to this but only for the morbidly curious… Back in 1981 could not get a job in SoCal area because I was not BiLingual…So thought I’d visit AF recruiter to see about auditioning as a bassist for Air Force Stage Band, He said sure, setup date & said hey you want company? There’s a gal who wants to try as well… I said ‘OK’. Well on the day we drove up to Edwards AFB all she talked about was Todd Rundgren the whole way & how smart he was, etc, etc… Didn’t listen much just thought she was a crazed groupie. Well recruiter gave wrong directions which made us over an hour late so they were pissed. They put fast paced sheet music in front of me & by bars 5-6 I was faltering so they did it again twice I was outta there in 5 minutes total waste of time… The gal didn’t even try after seeing what an example they made of me…
So 43 year later I find she was quite correct about Rundgren being a Brainiac!

Song render to disk issue with ADAT
Hi,
I am using my Behringer UMC 1820 as an ADAT interface for my Yamaha O2R mixing desk, sending various mix channels out to the desk, via ADAT out 1-8, and returning any outboard gear back through the desk (either stereo out or bus 1 and 2) into a line input, using ADAT in 1 & 2 in Renoise.
The mix channel receives the Line Input, but something funny happens when trying to render the output to disk.
The ADAT outputs switch to Out 1/2, so whilst they are output to disk, it means the ADAT input path is the wrong level, and so are the renoise output channels!
I have attached a gif of the issue, so you can see it swap over. Is this a bug, or is there something I need to set somewhere? I have checked other posts but they don’t reflect my issue, and are from a long time ago, so things may have since changed.
As requested in the sticky post:
Issue
Outputs switching when trying to render song to disk
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Renoise
- Set a few tracks to output to ADAT
- Assign a #Line-in component to an empty track, and assign its INPUT to ADAT in, using Live recording mode, and assign its OUTPUT to Master
- Go to File → Render song to disk
- Choose RealTime render
Expected Result
Only the ADAT Input channel is recorded as it is fed through to the Master output, as the others are set to ADAT out.
Actual Result
All Renoise mix channels that were set to ADAT out are switched to Out 1/2, so the output from the Mixing desk isn’t replicated in the generated wav file. Renoise Mix channels switch back to ADAT output when complete.
Definitely an edge case usage, I know, but hoping you can help, as I’m really enjoying using a tracker again after many years without Octamed
Thanks in advance, and thanks for an awesome application!

It took 12 years, but I'm back!
I recently got fed up with the daily grind and decided I needed a creative outlet, so I came back to Renoise. I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since I was last active here! Even though back then I could have said I understood Renoise pretty well, 12 years, many trips around the world, far too many concussions, and it is now like some alien software that is almost intimidating to try to learn again. I don’t even have my MIDI gear anymore and now they use mostly USB or hookups I’ve never even heard of before. How’s the community doing?
