Hey there! I’ve the same issue as this closed topic, except this is still happening:

OSX: Authentication for ReWire every time? Help, Support & Bugs Hi, In mac, I get a window every new session in the OS, which says: “Authentication is required to install the Renoise ReWire engine.” It asks me for my password so I can continue. If I enter my password, I can open Renoise a second time, without any notification. I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I must say that Renoise is not installed in the Applications folder, but a sub-folder I made inside it for the music software. Thanks for your help,

App file is in Application folder alongside license file…

If i try to open Renoise as Rewire slave i get:

Which makes sense since it’s apparently not installed even though i’ve “installed” it many times when prompted.

Moving to Application folder or re-installing Renoise (after fresh new download) then re-booting hasn’t fixed the problem. Deleted the Info.plist just in case, also to no effect.
Thinking that other instances of Renoise installed previously (one 32-bit one for old projects and another 64-bit one) were the culprits, i’ve uninstalled them. Haven’t helped. Or did they still somehow leave some trash behind that i’d need to delete manually?

Looking at the log, as i get prompted to “install” Rewire it get:

ReWire Slave: ReWire shared library is already installed and up to date…

Then after i authorise the “install” i get:

ReWire Slave: ReWire installation succeeded…

ReWire Slave: ReWire Panel was initialized…
ReWire Slave: ReWire Slave mode failed to init (no master is running)…

ReWire Master: Successfully opened

and the log when i try to launch Renoise in Rewire slave mode:

ReWire Slave: ReWire Panel was initialized…
ReWire Slave: ReWire Slave mode FAILED to init (device failed to load)!

Error Message: Failed to start Renoise as ReWire slave (Error: Failed to load the ReWire device)
Error Message: Please try closing and restarting the master application and Renoise.

Next steps:

Deleted Rewire plugin files from App support > Propellerhead Soft:

ReWire Slave: ReWire installation succeeded…

ReWire Slave: ReWire Slave FAILED to open (Error: 100). ReWire might not be installed…

ReWire Master: FAILED to open (Error: 100). ReWire might not be installed…

As expected…

Then, uninstalled Renoise again, RE-downloaded from Backstage, RE-installed…

ReWire Slave: ReWire installation succeeded…

ReWire Slave: ReWire Panel was initialized…
ReWire Slave: ReWire Slave mode failed to init (no master is running)…

ReWire Master: Successfully opened

Ok, nothing special… that’s expected…

Launching Renoise… getting prompt to install Rewire, OK.

Now let’s try Rewiring it to Reaper or Ableton Live…

Aaaaand another authentification promp to to “install” Rewire and:

ReWire Slave: ReWire Panel was initialized…
ReWire Slave: ReWire Slave mode FAILED to init (device failed to load)!

Error Message: Failed to start Renoise as ReWire slave (Error: Failed to load the ReWire device)
Error Message: Please try closing and restarting the master application and Renoise.

I can Rewire Reaper and Ableton Live. This is happening only with Renoise’s Rewire.

I need help.

EDIT: maybe a clue - if i go to the the propellerhead rewire folder and click “Show original” on “Renoise Engine.plugin”. It just doesn’t find it… (which of course can’t be found anywhere on the system)

Deleting it, restarting Renoise, getting prompted blablabla re-puts the alias in that folder but still original doesn’t exist anywhere…

Hi. So, if I want to just record a live take of midi for an indefinite period of time, is there a way to make Renoise keep adding to the project to extend it instead of looping while it records?

Atm, I just make a bunch of blank scenes but this is a bit of annoying extra work and takes the spontaneity out of the workflow a bit.

Ok. Someone needs to make a plug-in that is basically a tracker front end for midi instruments. I imagine a plug-in that stands between the piano roll and the synth on a program like ableton or bitwig that would allow tracker sequencing on any daw. Seems like it wouldn’t be crazy complicated (too complicated for me). I love bitwigs instruments but I haaaaaaates the piano roll. If I had a mini renoise plug device that could do that I would easily pay money for it. Sigh. A guy can dream. A guy can dream.

Hi Everyone,

Created this using four square waves with increasing phase
and a few drums; sort of a proof-of-concept piece.

Thought about expanding this but want to start looking at
the new compo, i’ve downloaded the dog barking

Besides have another one in the ‘deviceTest’ series that’s
calling out for more attention. Really like learning all about
these new device-based insruments!

Hi!

Is it possible to add multiple VST plugins in the tool settings? this can be very helpful in some situations. especially with those instruments that can be controlled via midi notes (for example, a vocoder)

My MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) becomes very hot very quickly running any Renoise project, no matter what the CPU load is. Just after a few minutes the fan is very loud and I start feeling the heat through the keyboard. So I close Renoise and everything goes back to normal right away.
None of it affects audio performance or reflected on the CPU meter (it’s around 3-15% with the latency from 3-20 ms).
Reaper and Reason run smoothly with the same processes happening inside Redux.

I almsot never use the slicing tool , but now asince I purchased an old yamaha tg77 I use it for sampling certina octaves
There is problem however , Let’s say I sample two octaves ( in one big file ) and then manually add slices ( non destructive )
The first slice added at the verry beginning of the file ( key c3 ) plays the whole recording ( when note is held ) , key C#3 actually plays slice 1 , so we have two keys playing the exact slice ( c3 plays the whole file , c# plays it correct but it should be mapped to c3)
I could transpose the whole instrument but that’s not desirable since I don’t want to keep it as original as possible
Since it 's non destructive , mapping doesn’t work either

Hi there!

Then, I’m more used to post some cute tracks on this forum (and that’s nice too ) but here is a project completly different! After 4 years without releasing an entire album, I came back to my new-age project this year. And then I finished my album dedicated to Christmas, started years ago (yes!).

In this album I made mainly instrumental rework of classical and traditional Christmas musics. All is done with Renoise and various VST.
