Currently we use numpad 1-9 for selecting instruments. The issue here is that the instrument starts at “0”, so instrument “0” means you press “1” on your numpad, and instrument “5” means you press “6”, which is confusing behavior for newcomers.

I see 2 ways to fix this:

1. Make numpad 0-9 select instruments and move “open editor” to the numpad period key, which I don’t believe Renoise uses otherwise.

2. Simply change the display number of the first instrument to “1” instead of “0”, moving every number up by one.

I’m in favor of the first option as this would allow you to select an additional instrument with your numpad compared to current behavior. Also, this would arguably be BETTER for people used to the old behavior as they can simply rebind keys to the previous way whilst removing “Instrument 0” would be a permanent change that may throw older users off.

While not a solution for the default behavior, adding “Select instrument 10” as a keybind would let me be able to use my 9 key, which currently doesn’t do anything due to the limited number of instrument keybinds available. (Can I fix this via lua scripts?)

I remember when I was trying to use FL plugin inside Renoise (that vst that allows to use FL instruments inside other DAWs). I was surprised how bad it works in Renoise - everything was uneven, some notes plays with a delay etc. But I was thinking that it’s because stupid FL wrapper/plugin.

Today I tested something different. As you may know, some synths have midi output and you can control other plugins using that. So I tested new feature in some synth (commercial) - routing MIDI to other synth. One synth only produces MIDI ARP output and second synth plays that MIDI notes. And they’re out of sync. Not very much, but still. A little less when number of ticks per line was increased, but even then equal spaces between ARP notes sound like with random small delays.

So I tested few oher synths that has midi output and one arp plugin. Also I changed destination plugins as well. No matter how I was triying to pair them or setup (static buffers or not) - notes plays uneven, out of sync. Not a big difference, but noticeable.

Can it be fixed?

IMPORTANT - problem is when plugins are in Sandboxed mode.

A bugfix release for Renoise is now available for registered users. The changes do not affect Redux, so Redux has not been updated.

This build is marked as beta for now, but if there are no major issues with the build, it will be released as a stable version next week - as is.

I’m wondering how to accomplish this deal? I’d prefer to be able to wipe all Samples and Sample Slots in the Note-Off Layer, before I use my script to copy current-sample to Note-Off Layer sampleSlot1 and do little things to it.

I can’t seem to figure out the path for deleting the sample buffer or the sample slot.

do i really need to move the note-off layer sample to note-on layer before being able to delete it?

Hi, I’ve been using Renoise for about 3 yrs now as my daily driver, and I’ve seen various people on the color themes forum topic use custom fonts. I don’t think I’ve seen a definitive guide on how to apply custom fonts to the renoise pattern editor. It’d be especially useful because I’m visually impaired. Magnification apps usually make it worse and fuzzy. I’d really love for at least font choices or perhaps merge this to a future feature request, global zoom scale. Wishful thinking I guess.

After you make a selection inside the sampler you are provided with the slice values of start/end and the difference of the two.

How can you turn this difference into lines in the pattern editor?

As in by looking at this value and using a real pen&paper + math in the real world determine how many lines down the pattern editor (and perhaps an “imaginary” “delay” value) does it take for the selection to stop playing once triggered.

I can’t wrap my head around it. Any help from someone smarter would be appreciated.

Hello, I’m looking to mute a variety of lines in a tune, but the few I’ve tried result in clicks. Specifically, using the X00 command on a sample or group tends to click, especially for low-frequency samples like kicks, and it’s the same for automating volume using the Vol column or a Gain device and automating the gain value to -inf. What I’ve been doing is using OFF commands, but this can get tricky because muting the middle of a loop means using OFF and sample offsets (which might be hard on loops that don’t fit 64/128/256 lines), or using Volume commands and placing a C00 command on the line before. This all works, BUT it is very time consuming to do over 30 tracks. I haven’t found a way to make the C00 and OFF workflow work in a group (yet).

Ultimately, I’m looking for a quick way to introduce mutes into my songs to create space with methods that do not produce clicks.

I can’t get some of my VST3’s to work at all in 3.4.3. Examples; Cthulhu, Redux, DB-33, Tape Mello-fl and several others. I have ONE VST3 directory and ALL these VST3’s work in both MPC and Reaper. When I go to the Plugin tab in Renoise and drop down the list of plugins these do not show up.

I am running Win11, AMD 7950x3d processor, 64GB DDR5 RAM. I have tested this with nothing else running.

Hello Renoise forums. It’s been a while!

I’m about to lose my mind here though. Somewhere within Renoise, at least as far as I can tell, there is some sort of built in compressor or limiter.

As I turn on or off different sounds, or enable or disable the line in from my keyboard, the rest of the sounds get quieter.

I’m sure I’m not imagining it, in fact I think I can see it happening in the top vumeter. I have a big bass drum droning over some orchestral stuff, and if I enable/disable some rather loud hihats (I’m just setting up the sounds for this song) then the volume of the bass drum and orchestra changes dramatically.

Please tell me I’m not going crazy! If the problem is in Renoise how do I turn it the h*ll off?! If it isn’t in Renoise, could it be some unwanted part of Windows 11? I’m using digital out to an amplifier and I can hear it in headphones as well as speakers.

Oh my god…

It’s the amp.

I thought I would just have one last look at my amplifier settings before sending, and there it is. Dynamic Range Compression. FFS.

Oh well, I’ll still post this just to say hello, to prove that I’m not crazy, and in case it saves someone else spending 4 hours pulling their audio chain apart.

I know there is a button in the header of the pattern editor. So I can loop sections of the pattern.
(I am not in front of Renoise)

Any possibility to marker/ loop a section (e.g. odd section 05 til 37) and bounce them?

When I try to render clean low-frequency synth sounds, like a kick drum, the first note is not rendered, and when it does, it’s super quiet. Turning off the track headroom doesn’t make any difference.

It seems there’s a problem with loading VST3 presets in several VST3 plugins. All presets are loading wrong and do not sound correct. Lots of settings and tweaks are loading wrong. You always have to lad the presets again and again until they load correctly after several tries. In all my other DAWs they load just fine.
