Saxophone House track made with Renoise

In the making of this track it was great to use renoise to play around with all the saxophone samples.
For the wobble effect on the synth-chords I linked the renoise-filter to a lfo.

Shortcuts on a laptop?

Renoise Forum - March 5, 2020 - 16:44

@MiguelHayden wrote:

I am new to renoise and loving it. The only thing that’s limiting me is that all the shortcuts to selects instruments and ovtave up and down are on the numpad. I know i can remap them but was wondering if there is laptop mapping somewhere that people use and everybody knows about.

starting out a project. new to renoise

Renoise Forum - March 5, 2020 - 16:44

@GrantHayden wrote:

Hello, i’m starting a project, but since now i’ve only worked with reason. i’m totally new to renoise.

any specific advice besides, of course, reading the official guides and whatching the official tutorials?

my goal is to make an album using only samples i will cut myself from other songs (like, a drum line from a song, voice from another, melody from another etc) to make something different.

i.e. is it better to cut samples outside of renoise or can i do it all with it?
best way to sync all samples with different bpm?
anything else that may come in mind with this approach. thanks!

Inst/Vol/Pan/Dly as single data fields

Renoise Forum - March 5, 2020 - 16:13

@Strotch wrote:

It would be great to have the option to have instrument, volume, pan and delay data inputted into a single data column (each).

What I mean is if you want to for example set a value to 45, you wouldn’t have to set one column to 4 and then navigate to the adjacent one and set that to 5. You would just select the single data field and enter 4 then 5 and it would output 45.

This is how it works in OpenMPT for reference. In my experience it makes navigation and editing a whole lot quicker and less cumbersome.

As always, it was great if this was just an option you could toggle, so people who prefer the current behavior could stick with that.

Welcome to the infomation page about Mixing Music

The fine art of mixing single audio tracks together as a whole is difficult, specially when you do not have some guidelines. First rule for explaining tthe name ‘mixing’ is that it stands for mixing it al up together, to make a whole overall sound. This means adjusting overal sound levels and making use of Fader Levels, Panning, EQ, Compression, Reverb, Delay or any kind of effect towards a good balanced track. Several issues come up while mixing, technique and equipment. Also offcourse like in composing, improvisation and goofing around might help you more to understand the difficult task to mix. Important is that the overal mix should be sounding tight and together as one. This Mixing page will try to explain some things about mixing, where to start and how to finish the mixing stage with good results. Remeber that time and understading is the way to go, knowing how to mix is a good thing before starting one. Take a good look around and read the information you find on our mixing information page.

Famitracker / NSF Import Function

@humanthomas wrote:

Hi. New to Renoise.
I make a lot of NES soundtracks, and was hoping renoise could simplify making modern sounding adaptations of them. Finding a way to import this data has been far more difficult than i’d hoped . Implementing a FTM or NSF Import function would be incredible . I can’t be alone in wanting this , can I ??

Renoise 3.2.1 unusable on macOS 10.14.6 due to skipped notes

Renoise Forum - March 4, 2020 - 00:42

@foma wrote:

Hi!
Please take a look at video comparison between 2.8.2 and 3.2.1 where I quickly bash chords:
https://youtu.be/Vk6jAnV2TNw
Both apps have “open in low-resolution” ticked in Finder properties and have identical settings.
3.2.1 simply fails to register notes. UI feels less responsive in general as well.
I’ve tried everything: low- and high-dpi modes, auto/manual scaling, fps limits on/off, windowed/maximised/fullscreen mode.

Note that 2.8.2 is also laggy when “open in low-resolution” is not ticked.

My machine is MacBook Pro 15" 2018.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Harmonic Engine vs Moog Werkstatt

Renoise Forum - March 3, 2020 - 11:11

@midierror wrote:

Using the Circuitbenders Harmonic Engine with a Moog Werkstatt to create some glitchy undertones, chiptune-esq bleeps and all round analog fatness! An amazing little effects unit which is a clone of the E&MM Harmony Generator, which outputs a squarewave based on the input signal, at variouys harmonic intervals.

Used here with the super powerful Moog Werkstatt, with no talking and absolutely no effects on top of anything you see here.

Enjoy!

Using MIDI notes to change pattern

Renoise Forum - March 3, 2020 - 09:03

@midierror wrote:

Hi
This seems like a simple idea, and totally possible in redux. A friend and I took hours to set it up and it wouldnt work!

We have one drum break, and have sliced it up in different ways using 8 patterns. We want to trigger each pattern from one specific MIDI note.

Is this possible???

Thanks
