How to select and cut an envelope

Renoise Forum - March 21, 2020 - 17:48

@spdk wrote:

Hi,

How can easily select an envelope over a couple of patterns and delete it? I can select them pattern by pattern, but not all at once.

I’ve added an image as an example, I want to delete alle envelopes from pattern 36 to 52, but leave 29 to 32 in place.

cut_envelope|690x175

Thanks, It’s bothering me for a long time, I’ve always selected the envelopes pattern by pattern, but that can’t be the easiest way I hope

A Hardware Tracker from Polyend

Renoise Forum - March 20, 2020 - 21:03

Tracker from Polyend is a new standalone hardware groovebox based on a grid-sequencing workflow first introduced on Amiga computers in 1987.

Disappointed that they use the general term “tracker” for their product, but that’s life.

Thought folks might be interested.

Paper jam

The main and general issue with the printer is paper jam, it means that paper is stuck inside the printer and printer is not working. There are many reasons for paper jam some of them are given below.

Sensor Issue: There is Optical sensor which give command to printer for picking up the paper from paper tray and print. Sometime that sensor doesn’t work and cause paper Jam for the solution for this is call UAE TECH for the professional replacement of sensor.

Pick up roller: It is soft and rubbery surface which pick the paper from paper tray. Sometime dust or dirt in roller cause for paper jam issue. It is very sensitive thing if not done by care then it can head.

Transfer belt: Transfer belt pick the paper and passes it through each component of printer to complete the printing process. Sometime due to dust, dirt or break down of transfer belt cause the Paper Jam.

Paper Tray: Sometime putting wrong paper tray to wrong model of printer can cause the paper jam and we should clean paper tray time to time to make printing process smoothly.

Size of Paper: Some time wrong size of paper in paper tray cause the paper jam issue.

Ink leakage: Toner or Ink leakage inside the printer could cause paper jam.

Motor Problem: There is a motor inside the printer to move and advance paper from tray to printer head for complete the printing process, due to motor sometime paper jam issue occur in printer.

M aintenance box: Its stores ink that gets bloomed from the system during print head cleaning. When an ink cartridge is used or the maintenance box is at the finish of its service life, you need to replace it.

Matrix visibility pet peeve / color blindness issues?

Renoise Forum - March 20, 2020 - 11:28

@Jonas wrote:

A thing that has bothered me in Renoise is being able to see in which track I’m in the pattern matrix at a first glance. I’d like a more pronounced view, have it be optional and/or be able to set the strength of the pronunciation. Extra slider(s) in the gui preferences for the lines that enclose and signify cross-hair position.

There is a difference in the graphics whether you’re focused in the pattern editor or in the matrix. When you’re working in the pattern editor, the matrix can look like this;

When the slots are empty in the matrix it is clear enough which pattern has the cursor.

When you’re focused inside the pattern editor, it becomes more unclear in the matrix when tracks have note-events / slots are full;

Notice I’m in the track named ‘bass’, you can see its differentiation in color in the top of the picture, yet the block that stands out most is a selection in a different track, empty slot in the same pattern.

Here I’d also like the cross-hair slot in the bass pattern of the 6th pattern stand out more.

When focus is on the matrix, it looks like this;

A little better with the dotted encapsulation, but also open for much improvement imo.

I’m a little colorblind and have tried different themes to see this can be improved. But think a strength setting for the cross-hair lines in the matrix would be great, having a clearer encapsulated matrix slot where the cursor resides in the pattern editor. Anyone else could appreciate pimping of the matrix cross-hair?

First world problems during the rona, sorry.

"Forcing" instruments to output via a channel

Renoise Forum - March 19, 2020 - 14:51

@Gella wrote:

Hi, as per thread title, is there any way within a Renoise Instrument to “force” it to output audio down a particular mixer channel?

The purpose of this is in a setup with Cubase as a Rewire master and Renoise as Rewire slave - using Renoise effectively as an external sampler triggered by Midi from Cubase, then mixing the audio back in Cubase.

Midi is working absolutely perfectly - triggering different instruments on different midi channels and all that, however, all Renoise instruments output their audio via whichever mixer channel is currently selected, making it impossible to route different instruments to different Rewire busses.

Hope i’ve explained that clearly, its got me well confused

Thanks in advance

It would be great if we could could get serial filter routing in the instrument editor , this would of course increase cpu usage but I think it’s worth it
Here’s an example of 2 , 4pole moog filters in series ( used in the effects section ) , notice that the resonance of eac filter stacked filter reso.xrns (778.6 KB) is also stacked …( let keep this as an option )

Shortcuts on a laptop?

I like the Thinkpad trackpoint keyboard so much I use one for my main PC as well. No trackpad, no numpad. I use a bluetooth one with my Surface Pro as well.

I like have the same keyboard for all cases so my muscle memory isn’t over taxed : )

I’ve remapped the transpose shortcuts, though I keep forgetting them and often just use the right-click menu.

I am unaware of any common shared mapping that avoids numpad stuff.

I ended up just adjusting shortcuts over time, and then made sure I had the same config on all my machines

I also remapped capslock to ESC, also breaks some Renoise shortcuts.

Duplicating a VST within the Instrument Selector

Renoise Forum - March 16, 2020 - 02:49

@TNT wrote:

About one week ago I switched from Renoise 2.7.1 to Renoise 3.2.1. What a change! New layout and completely different in handling. It took a while to get used to it. But there is one thing I ask myself if it’s a kind of bug or did it simply change compared to Renoise 2.7.1. I’m talking about this:

When you duplicate a plugin within the instrument selector in Renoise 2.7.1. and you change the selected instrument in the duplicated plugin, the instrument name of the selected instrument in the duplicated plugin displayed in the list changes, too. There is ALWAYS the name of the current used instrument displayed in the list.

When you duplicate a plugin within the instrument selector in Renoise 3.2.1. and you change the selected instrument in the duplicated plugin, the instrument name of the selected instrument in the duplicated plugin displayed in the list DOESN’T change.

Did I miss something? I hope so! For me the handling of creating a song would get a little bit more inconvenient. In Renoise 2.7.1 I used to duplicate a VST within the instrument selector and change the instrument in the duplicated VST, so that I didn’t had to load the VST and the selected soundbank all over and over again for the case that I wanted to use several instruments from the same soundbank in one song. Now in Renoise 3.2.1 you will have to rename the duplicated VST into the name of the current used instrument by hand every time, and there is no option of copy and paste. So you literally have to type in every single letter by hand every time you change the instrument in a duplicated plugin. Or is there hope? Does it still work that way somehow in Renoise 3.2.1? Or is it about to come in the next update? Or is it planned like this, no more automatic change of the current used instrument’s name when changing the instrument, and if so, why?

Thanks for helping out!
