Tiny USB ASIO device recommendations?
I use Renoise with a lot of VST instruments - always have. My biggest problem is when I want to use Renoise “on the go” with a laptop. I use Windows Primary Sound device. I’ve tried ASIO4ALL etc but no matter what I do, I keep getting audio glitches. Plug in my Tascam US2x2 USB ASIO audio interface and everything is fine…
I admit that I am using more VST instruments than I ever have. I didn’t really have such a problem with less VST instances… but…
So… just wondering if anybody has discovered a really small USB ASIO “sound card” that works well? I’m wondering if one of those guitar interface devices may be the way to go… ?

Giorgio Sancristoforo's "Substantia" physical modeling synth
Been working here and there with Giorgio’s software for many years now - so many great pieces of software.
One I’d really like to mention, because of how it can be used with Renoise is the “Substantia” physical modeling synth for those of you who work on Macs, which can be found here: https://www.giorgiosancristoforo.net/softwares/
The reason I bring it up is because it has offered me a way to construct sounds that I can’t design within Renoise itself, and also reminded me of a way to combine both physically modeled sound samples AND Renoise’s built in synth to be a combination of a physical model and a tone generator.
What’s especially nice about Substantia is that it’s not your typical physical models. It’s based on various resonators and an amazing array of materials. Maybe you want a pentagonal bowl made of tin, or a wire rack made of nylon. You’ll get some beautiful results out of this software which can be exported and turned into the ‘attack’ portion of your sound, or if you’ve really got the moxy, you can turn them into pads and other sounds. Heck, you can use other samples to modulate the sounds via transients or with contact mics.
For those who desire to move into an electroacoustic direction, but do not want to strum a guitar or or pluck a harp, or play the piano in your living room, this software will really provide an interesting array of simulated sounds. Sounds that I’ve never heard created by other synths.

Using midi to control korg kaos pad
Never used renoise with midi before but been getting into using hardware and thought it might be fun to use renoise to control x and y axels and hold but how ? I would love to use some lfo automation to control x and y which would follow the wave and then random on n off for hold. Im guessing i need 3 channels of automation for each control ( x is 13, y is 12 and hold is 95) thank you for anyone that can help which to be seems like an easy task but I’m getting no where

Aquilyzer - Deep Breath | Drum & Bass
I finalized one of my demo songs yesterday. I was using 1 LPB again for this, mainly put all the stuff into phrases. This kind of workflow reminds me abit to FL. Works pretty well in Renoise. Feedback welcome.
Also made a video for it in FL:

Is there still no way to do midline MIDI note-offs in Renoise?
For one or two versions of Renoise 3, Cxy also sent note-offs to VSTs after y ticks. This was such a great feature for me, but it was declared a bug and removed entirely. Now I don’t know if there’s any equivalent behavior.

Nice mod VST: DLYM from Imaginando
Hi All,
You may have heard of the desktop/mobile-friendly synth DRC from Imaginando. Great sounding all-around synth plugin that also has a very robust mobile app for Android and iOS. They also have a great series on YouTube, using DRC to dial in iconic synth sounds from popular songs.
I messed around with it on Android but never purchased because the pricing never quite worked out right for me. You have to pay twice, once for mobile and again for desktop.
Well, they also released the mod section from that synth as its own plugin, DLYM, for free.
Imaginando has released DLYM, a freeware modulation effect in VST and AU plugin formats for compatible host applications on PC and Mac. This is the first Imaginando plugin to be released after the successful DRC multi-platform virtual synthesizer...
I just played with the presets and it goes a long way to add interesting dimension to standard waveforms. A worthy addition to your quiver and a nice alternative from the standard mod plugins on Renoise.
Lastly, though, I want to give a shout for their other big Android app, LK, a tactile midi controller for smartphones with a nice variety of interfaces (keyboard, drum pads, sliders, chorder). This was the best way I found to control Renoise on my Mac via Android.

Boutique Feedback Synthesizer
I saw this in my news feeds and got really excited about this…
With FJÆRLETT, Tilde Elektriske Kretser has built an instrument with which you can craft versatile audio feedback in no time at all
Then I remembered that I already have this…
Maybe I should spend less time reading and more time rocking…

Track delay unit
I think It could be good if we would have the choice Between “Milliseconds” or “sample” for track delay units.
“sample” is more precise to repair some phase problems.

Plugin Grabber -》.xrni -》Redux
I underestimated Plugin Grabber. Now I sample together a few XRNI instruments as I think this is a really cool alternative to bounce. At the moment I have no Redux, but if I’m not mistaken, I can also use my created instruments with Redux in Bitwig, right?

Faderport 8 on Renoise
Hi,
Just bought a Faderport 8 DAW controller. Works fine with my other DAWS (Reaper, Studio One), but I was wondering how to make it work on Renoise. Anyone having tips,or suggestions?
Kind regards,
Mario Reijnen

Vertical cursor highlight?
hi all!
is there an option to enable a vertical highlight above and below the cursor’s position? the track highlight is often not enough for my eyes to orient to the cursor all too quickly - with or without my current eye-killing theme lol
for example…
thx

Midi mapping for up and down arrows? Launchpad
So I figured out how to get the midi mapping to work for left to right on columns. I’m using a Novation Launchpad MK2. I want to map the up and down arrows on the pad to work the same as the up and down arrows on the keyboard. But I can’t find any option for that in all of the midi map controls. Is it there? Am I missing it?

About ReWire - what is the future of DAW to DAW connectivity?
Hi,
I kind of tried to make a topic about this on Gearsluzt, and I kind of got nowhere. Reason 11 and beyond no longer support ReWire. I’m guessing ReWire is now basically Ghostware…
What is the future of DAW to DAW connectivity?
For 99% of users, with Reason as a VST, there is absolutely no need for ReWire. Because, hardly anybody is crazy enough to, “use Ableton Live, and need to ReWire it into BitWig,” or, “use BitWig, and need to ReWire to Studio One.”
However, some of us who are using Renoise, do actually ReWire into Cubase Pro (in my case, specifically version 9.5).
So what is the future? I know this might be a few years, before it actually matters.

Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams (House Remix)
After my last attempt at more of a progressive house style was a bit of an abortion, I’m hoping going back to remixing female vocals into a house track … (again ) is less so… I’ll let the jury decide ;

Renoise not rendering song properly
I noticed Renoise won’t render the last 56 seconds or so of a song I’m working on. It just stops abruptly. I can’t find any reason why it shouldn’t. The only thing that’s different about this song is I’m using an LFO to modulate the LPB.

Is it possible (in Renoise) to render external hardware synth to sample instrument in the same way we can with plugins?
Hello all,
My question is pretty much as it says in the title. Renoise has a nice feature for rendering a plugin to a sample instrument, but I can’t find a way to do the same using an external (midi-controlled) audio source.
Am I missing something or is it just not possible? If not, why not? It seems like it would work in exactly the same way, except with slightly different midi and audio routing.
Thanks,
Arjen
