New Sonic Arts Freestyle (anyone using it?)
Title says it all. I’m looking at New Sonic Arts Freestyle, having bought Granite and really liking the overall design, sound, and UI. Freestyle appears to be pretty nifty and I am curious if anyone that really jives with Renoise also enjoys Freestyle. Comments, critiques, etc. I am especially interested if there is any native recording options or if there is an easy third-party option for recording performances. The ability to “Freeze to Nuance” seems very promising. I love Renoise’s plugin grabbing capabilities and this seems like it might be a good complement when dealing with more involved setups (multiple VSTi and VST FX setups).
I think Freestyle could be a useful tool in my toolbox for various projects, just looking for any user input before I pull the trigger on the cross grade (as I already bought granite).

MIDI CC assignments question
So I just got a MIDI-keyboard which isn’t supported in my OS (Win 7 64-bit).
No problem! I can get it to recognize as a standard MIDI-keyboard - pitch bend works fine and I don’t want most of the extra functions that came with the keyboard anyway. I can always get to them later, when upgrading to Win 10.
Here’s the thing. I would like to use a few of the knobs on the keyboard for controlling a hardware synth - specifically, I would need to be able to send MIDI CC commands between 23-26 from the keyboard.
The default CC values for the knobs on the keyboard go from CC 16 -21 - and I can’t install the MIDI assignment editor, which is only supported in Win 10. Tough luck.
This might be a silly question, but is there any workaround inside Renoise I could do, to convert the CC values from the MIDI-keyboard to the ones I’d need?

How to set track numbers, samples, etc. to manual (and a weird thing)
Hi everyone
Proud tracker through 25 years here. I’m really impressed with Renoise but, as a puritan for total control, I would like to know if there’s any way to disable the autonumbering when adding patterns? It annoys me to no end, that everything skips, moves and is renumbered when I try to do things. I feel like I’m losing my overview. This also goes for adding samples and instruments.
And for a strange thing… I’ve loaded an older XM file, but for whatever reason, it loops the first pattern in the song indefinitely and refuses to move on.

Why is there no way to loop selected rows within a pattern?
As far as I understand, there’s nothing built-in to allow the user to loop only the selected rows of a pattern. There is block loop, which is cool, but what if you only wanted to loop (for example) rows 221-254 in the current pattern? I guess there’s also Shift+Space to start playback from the currently selected row, but what do you do if you just want to repeatedly playback only the few specific rows that you’re currently editing?

Mini Rotary Dials for Volume and Pan in the Instrument Selector
I would love to see the instrument selector enhanced with introduction of either Mini Rotary Dials or up and down dragable values in the box do be quickly able to change instrument gain and pan settings and possibly also into the spectrum / analyzer view.
Dials: would simply change volume or pan
Box Idea: the outer border would flash if it receives a midi notes, inner green area can be dragged up or down to adjust gain, instrument can also be muted here through a shortcut click which strikes the box through
I think this would be ace to enable not just a quick workflow, but also an oldschool one, where you can in theory not care about tracks or effects and just keep it simple.
there have also been ideas floated around with a collapsable mixer view, but I think being able to quickly set instrument gains and pans across the board, without having to select the instrument first and then going into the advanced setting, would actually be more useful.
Also wouldn’t mind if it was possibe to show instrument macros here

How to upsample?
How do I upsample a sample (resample C-4 -> C-5) so that sample plays 2x faster?

Is there a shortcut/midi/LUA script to access plugins effects and instruments?
I’m currently building my perfect shortcut keyboard using a QMK programmable KB and the only thing I can’t find a shortcut for are the plugins windows. I’d like to be able to focus them and use the arrow/search to get the proper plugin.
AFAIK there is no shortcut… apparently no midi mapping… LUA script maybe ?
Thanks for the ideas

OSX Big Sur: First Time Startup Not Loading
Hi everyone! I’m on the OSX Big Sur beta and I’m trying out Renoise for the first time. But when I install and and load it up, it just loads to an all white screen. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just wait for the devs to push an update?

Renoise keybinds with numpad and numbers
Quick question I’m sure anyone can answer. Does Renoise consider the numpad keys as separate keys from the numeric keys above “QWERTY…”? The reason I am asking is because I am currently using a “tenkeyless” keyboard, which is just a regular keyboard that is missing numpad keys. I am considering purchasing a new keyboard that has numpad keys, specifically so I can create additional Renoise keybinds using the numpad. But, just want to make sure that Renoise actually considers them a separate set of keys before buying.

Load sample into next empty slot
Would be nice simple addition to have an option/key command to load the selected sample into the next available slot. Just saves a few mouse/keyboard clicks moving up and down manually.
Cheers!
