Hey guys, haven’t posted in a while so thought I’d share my most recent track.
This is the last track I made on Renoise 2.8 as now moved onto 3.3. Plan to make plenty more this year and going to get maschine to make it a bit more fun.

Renoise Plugin keys interfere with Renoise interface
So, whenever I try to type in a number in a VST plugin and press the keyboard keys, the keys register both in renoise and in the vst. So let’s say I want to change a value for a VST reverb, if the VST instrument is selected as well, even though I am operating in the Reverb window, renoise will register that key and trigger keys/notes associated as shortcuts on the keyboard. Any idea why this is happening? On my previous install of Renoise this wasn’t an issue, I could type whatever in the external VST and it wouldn’t interfere. Now whenever I try to change values and type with the keys, I get random sounds popping as well the track stopping because I press enter. Don’t know if I managed to explain this correctly, all I know is that it is driving me insane and I can’t seem to find any resources about this issue.
Thanks…

Renoise.app():show_warning Triggers Twice In Notifier For Drop-Down Menu
When renoise.app():show_warning is used in a notifier for a parameter that has a drop-down menu, it will be triggered twice. This doesn’t happen for any other code in the notifier nor does this happen with any other type of parameter.
It only happens when manually changed by the user though; doing it through the API only triggers once. I notice when changing manually that the drop-down menu is still open on the first warning, but has closed for the second. Perhaps there’s some priority issue there?
Check it out:
a = renoise.song():track(1):insert_device_at("Audio/Effects/Native/Cabinet Simulator", 2) a:parameter(1).value_observable:add_notifier(function() renoise.app():show_warning("Cabinet change.") end) a:parameter(3).value_observable:add_notifier(function() renoise.app():show_warning("Gain change.") end)1 post - 1 participant
Five small tracks - Tiny People by Nuelijarma
I’ve used Renoise for more than a year now? I think now I feel confident enough to share things here
These are also my first real attempts at mixing. Damn that’s hard.
Enjoy the music

BUG: Redux 1.2.1 does not show "Sidechain" routing option with PreSonus Studio One 5.1.2.62686
When I try to route audio to Redux 1.2.1 (VST2) within PreSonus Studio One 5.1.2.62686, I don’t see the “Sidechain” option available. Thus, I am not able to route audio to it and record into it.
Would there be an alternate method to successfully sample into Redux from Studio One?

Cartoon Network
So this track is based around the sign off the sign off from Adult Swim to Cartoon Network that used to come on when in my early youth, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIypRcyVRfk&t=5s
So basically, I’m working on an album, where all of the songs themes are based around stuff i used to watch, it could be commercials, theme songs, bumpers, etc. This is the first track to that album, i was planning to do it all on one renoise XRNI file, but now I’m splitting them up into different files.
here’s the xrni for this song : https://www.mediafire.com/file/zhkjkk86yzdandr/Noods!.xrns/file
This is a pretty long track, so my main concern is if track is interesting enough to justify the run time, so if you have think so, or don’t think so, feel free to let me know.
So any feedback whether it be mixing, composition, or a specific section, feel free to drop it in the comments, and most importantly, thank you for taking the time to give it a listen, i appreciate it.
I hope you enjoy

Thanks for updating the Native DSP Context Menu for 3.3!
Just a quick shout-out to @ffx for updating the hidden Native DSP effects for 3.3 - they are so useful!

Disable chapters on wavefile output?
Long time user, but rarely post here.
I just did a bounce in Renoise 3.3 and notice it’s now adding chapter markers to the wave file per pattern. This looks like a really cool feature for some use cases, but it’s making encoding with ffmpeg more complicated. Is there a way to disable adding chapter markers?
Thanks!

Force Renoise to use laptop GPU for GUI rendering?
Let me preface this by saying I’m currently experiencing lots of crackling and popping and have tried lots of solutions to no avail in other threads (using ASIO4ALL or FlexASIO, forcing Renoise to use one less CPU core to “reserve” it for windows, making sure power modes are set to best performance, etc) and the only thing I’ve discovered that helps is bumping my processor’s minimum allowed state under power plans.
So, while the problem may have multiple causes, it seems it is at least partially because of CPU usage, even when Renoise is only reporting about 40% usage.
Now I’m on a quest to lower CPU load as much as possible, and one of the things I’ve been trying to do is get Renoise to make use of my laptop’s NVIDIA GPU for GUI rendering.
I’ve tried forcing Renoise to use my NVIDIA GPU under Windows Settings>System>Display>Graphics Settings as well as creating a profile for Renoise’s executable in the NVIDIA control panel, but when I run Renoise and check GPU activity it still shows no programs utilizing it.
The reason I suspect this may help is that if I limit FPS to 30 under Renoise’s GUI preferences it does seem to lower playback CPU usage by a few percentage at times, but that could just be coincidental.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Post your music here!
Sorry @stoiximan, do not take this personally, i just feel that the previous topic made by you is full of useless discussions. (lately)
Let’s keep this topic clean by posting the following:
- music that we’ve made recently
- constructive criticism is always welcome (opinions as well)
- perhaps a deconstruction of the tune in the how-it’s-made manner
and everything else except endless off-topic psychological pointless statements… I think that hosting can handle new thread for your personal concerns.
Let’s keep it simple and tidy
Thank you!
Renoise is the most awesome tracker!

Fabien Schivre (Renoise DSP & Tokyo Dawn Labs)
Hi
Today i’ve got reply from Fabien (the maker of TDR plugins ) (the only plugins i swear by)
my question was about his effort in the terms of Renoise DSP programming, whereas he replied:
Hi Dusan,
yes, I built a few effect modules, the maximizer, the bus compressor, and I think also a saturator. But this stuff is super old and I haven’t found the time to contribute to renoise since then.
also i’ve asked him if there is possibility that he might involve again in the future for the DSP programming…
while still waiting for his answer, i’d also like to ask @taktik if this is possible at some point? (i guess this is marginal question, but i’m highly interested in such topic).
Thanks

How to make this sound
There is an amazing synth line that starts at 0:03. It’s the main melody of the song.
Anyone have an idea what type of synthesis that is or how to recreate it?

Recrods multiples MIDI parameters on pattern effect column
Hello to all.
I use Renoise 3.2.2.
I would like to record VST instrument parameters with a controller (Arturia Keylab MKII) but i need to record on pattern and not with enveloppe automation.
The goal is to record pitchbend, modwheel and expression (with traditionnal midi cc for the last one).
I’ve tried enveloppe automation but i would like to use the real pitchbend and modwheel control, not a fader or rotary know to send cc, plus the way i’ve configured the controller allow me to use rotary knob only for controlling devices parameters and expression is mapped on a fader, which is far better for my taste.
I don’t want to change my MIDI configuration only for the expression control.
That’s why i would like to use pattern effect column.
Then the problem is that i can’t record on a second effect column. I tried to go on the second column with the cursor but everytime it’s recorded on the first one.
Is that normal?
(note that all parameters records corretly)
I use the midi learn function of the VST instrument and then would like to records on multiples column but i’m not sure it’s possible with instrument…
Thanks for any help!

Creative Routing Suggestion
Would it ever be possible that Renoise would allow routing to “previous” send tracks?
And by “previous” I mean, send tracks to the left of another send track. I’m sure everyone knows that you can’t route the output of one send track to another that is “before” (or to the left of) another send. It would be awesome if that were allowed so people want to experiment with feedback synthesis (like Karplus Strong) can add textures and effects till their heart is content.
I messed around Karplus Strong in Ableton after my homie from Detroit showed me. The whole time I was like “I gotta do this in Renoise”. Apparently a lot of Detroit Techno producers love Karplus Strong.

Reason Rack VST GUI Only Reopens with 2 Toggle Cycles of 'Editor' Button
Hi, when i load up a Reason VST instance as an instrument, after i close the window that opens automatically on loading, i have to click the editor toggle on and off once before the editor will open again. It’s like Renoise isn’t seeing that i have closed the editor window manually. But even if i close the editor window by using the toggle button it still makes me toggle it on and off one cycle before the window will open on the next ‘on’ toggle. It’s a bit hard to explain. Something is out of sync somewhere. It doesnt happen with other VST3 instruments.
