Global Option to change slider and box value drag speed
When using the trackpad on my macbook I find the sliders in Renoise to be way too sticky, would be great if there was a global option change the drag responsiveness of sliders and value boxes that allow up/down dragging (like the volume box of an instrument).

Apple: Mac firewall / OSC Server
When you enable OSC server on a Mac? How to set the firewall?
User wants to know if dad can play his piano over the network over a mac, i’m afraid it can but who is dad, what software does he use and who knows how to set the firewall? I have told him to disable the port 8000 (the default, used OSC server port) in his modem/router. In windows this is no issue, as you can set the domain to “private” and only allow your local computer.

Individual VST note panning
Hi. I have a 4 note chord using a VST (Surge, pad sound) and I want the first note to pan hard left, the second to pan hard right, 3rd maybe somewhere else in the audio field… you get the idea. But I can’t get it to work. Seems the right most track governs the final pan and all of the notes sound in it. Also tried send routing but that didn’t work.

What would you recommend as a limiter?
Hi!
I’m working on a track where basically snares make peaks hitting shortly top of headroom.
Here is the rendered view in audacity:
I think in this case a limiter could help on the snare, but I wonder if this is possible to do with Renoise native effects avoiding saturation (just attenuate the signal, not cut it)?
Or if there have external tools/VSTi/AU recommandations you can also tell about of course.

Beatstep Pro Always starts Renoisesfrom the beginning
Hey. I would like to use my Beatstep Pro to start and stop Renoise, but when I press play, it always starts the track from the first pattern. Is there any way to change the behavior so it starts the current pattern? (ie, mid track) Thanks

Renoise's website
Hi all!
Just a little post to give a feedback not about the forum wich work perfectly, but about Renoise’s website. I went here recently and I had this feeling that it seems a bit outdated, isn’t it?
One issue is the website seems missing to be completly responsive. I think this would be better to be updated, especialy for new users who visit, but I know it some extra work or rework.

Redeemer EP released
Track 1 is a mess without good headphones - I need to git gud at mastering, and remember to listen in mono as well when producing! But I’m leaving it as-is, as a memento of my own progress.
Super happy with tracks 3 & 5 though. Especially the instrumental break in track 5 - I even had a minor sound-design win there, a rare moment of something actually sounding almost as I imagined it before the painfully-imperfect process of attempting to capture it in a track.
It’s also rolling out to streaming services as I type. Not quitting my day job, but I’m enjoying myself.

I would like to hear your music made with ChordLord in Renoise
The question is…
can ChordLord really make better music than I do?
I have been programming about over 1/3rd of the code for this tool. It features, in v3.06.235, 235 chords to click, selected in harmony with each scale / note. You can choose a chord complexity level for a less dense selection of chord buttons, and there is a 4 mode arpeggio for step editing. It also features a “jump” and “jump up” button for fast track editing. Please update your ChordLord, a tool for Renoise 3.
visit the ChordLord forum topic to get to know more and post your music made with ChordLord in this topic.

Envelopes resolution , bpm just not accurate
As brought up recently in the ringmod thread by ffx , this long lasting bugwhere envelopes are dependent on the bpm /lpb
Here’s an example( modified instrument by user ffx ) just play the instrument with the keyboard and drag the main bpm slider with your mouse between 60-140 bpm ( while triggering the instrument) ,the difference is night and day
This should be fixed bug.xrns (796.1 KB)

Commodore 64 like Pulse Width
Hello again,
On my way diving into the sounds of the good old Commodore 64 and the SID chip I stumbled upon another effect which is called Pulse Width. It can be applied (has effect) only on a rectangle (square in ReNoise) waveform, and it has to be applied in order to hear anything. It can have a value from 1 to 4095. I wrote a small basic program which plays the note C-4 and changing the pulse width with a step of 16:
Of course my question would be how to recreate this in ReNoise and can it be controlled within a track. I found a couple of topics here with some demos, but all links are unfortunately dead.
One idea was to create a simple square sample with a forward loop, duplicate it and apply Invert Phase on it. When you play this you should here complete silence. BUT changing the loop starting/ending point on the second sample will produce something similar to pulse width.
Unfortunately I didn’t found a way to control the loop start/end point from a track. It’s also strange that ReNoise is not offering this out of the box as a part of a sample modulation.
I’ll appreciate any help (please with detailed steps, since I’m a new to ReNoise).
Thanks!

Column "fill" option - either note or FX
I have been eyeing the Polyend Tracker just for the sake of not being tethered to the same desk I work at all day when I want to make some music - also to act as a sequencer companion to my Digitone, but this is besides the point.
One of the features added to the PT in recent updates, in addition to the pre-existing “fill” within a set range is the idea of a Euclidean fill option. For example, I would like to be able to select an FX column and with predetermined settings, i.e. every line, every other line, every 3 lines etc. fill the FX column with a random value of the Yxx probability command - even perhaps giving a range for the randomness i.e. Y80 to YCF. Additionally a Euclidean fill for the note set up to trigger hi-hats would be useful, as well as being able to set a random range for the velocity of each note before they are printed to column.
I love the sequencer as it is, but manually adjusting Yxx on a per line basis is a little frustrating at times.

Sequence Effect Commands?
I’m assuming the answer is no(with maybe some work arounds using phrases)
I’d like to have the ability to separate the audio sequencing and the effects affecting the audio to make it more dynamic.
Is there a way to externally trigger certain effects commands?
Thank you

Issues with Omnisphere
I have been using Renoise for a while now and used the completely stand-alone which worked great. Now I have bought Omnisphere and run it as a VST plugin and plugin alias. Even if it’s a little cumbersome, it works perfectly fine. The problems I have ended up with is that the Omnisphere sounds starts to crack and rattle after I have used them for a while in Renoise. This issue (or smular) is described in another thread from 2008 Omnisphere. I have tested the solution proposed there but I still have the same problem. Is there a solution to this? I think it’s really strange that the same problem would remain 12 years later !? My second problem arises when I render a song to disk. If I choose offline mode and interpolation HQ, the sounds coming from Omnisphere don’t sync with the playback or with samples that I run directly in Renoise. Is there a way around this? I am using Renoise 3.3.1 and the latest version of Omnisphere (2.6.5.d). My computer is a Windows 10 machine with a Core ™ i7-7660U processor.
Any ideas or solutions?

Editing Viewbuilder Items
Is there any way to directly edit the item list of a Switch/Popup/Chooser instead of creating a new table and assigning that?
vb = renoise.ViewBuilder() vb:popup { id = "popup", items = {"a", "b"} } vb.views.popup.items[1] = nil vb.views.popup.items[2] = "x" vb.views.popup.items[3] = "c" rprint(vb.views.popup.items) [1] => a [2] => b1 post - 1 participant
Commodore 64 like Ring Modulation
Hello,
I have a question on how to use the RingMod effect in order to recreate some sounds from the Commodore 64’s SID chip. Basically what the C64 does (as far as I understood) is taking one voice/oscillator which is a triangle waveform and multiplying it with the value of another voice/oscillator which can be (I guess) any waveform, but in my case a rectangle (C64) or square (ReNoise).
The RingMod effect in ReNoise can be applied to a single track; you can pick one of the following oscillators: sine, triangle, saw, square. The note for modulating can be set dynamically so I can do that too (manually) by looking at the notes from another track. That was the theory and I guess everyone of you knew that.
Trying that out didn’t quite worked out. I took the ReNoise chip_triangle instrument without any ADSR modulation applied on it and with RingMod it sounds distorted. Also used a plain triangle sample from a C64, applied exact the same ADSR values; same result. In the track I’m using the exact notes and playing them at the exact speed.
Please take a look at the sounds. Am I missing something? Do I need another effect on top of it? Can this be achieved without any additional plugins? Using ReNoise on MacOS. I’d be grateful for any help.
Original C64 sound:
ReNoise (same notes, triangle waveform, without RingMod):
ReNoise (with RingMod applied base note for this snippet is C-3):

Need new motherboard - related questions
Do oem computers generally have issues when a motherboard is replaced?
I bought a Dell back in March, and I bought the express service contract too lol…
Now it seems the motherboard was defective. They are supposedly sending a tech by with a replacement.
I think they owe me a totally new machine. I think my machine is a complete lemon
What do you think?
I keep having kernel power errors and the computer constantly flashes on and off. There remote diagnostic decided I need new motherboard.
But the dell tech was kind of a doof and mumbled “sometimes when you replace a motherboard other issue spring up”
What was he talking about and how do I argue dell owes me a new computer?
